A new milestone
Friends of KKC,
Meet Joseph, one of the 2,875 students who joined the KKC program this year.
In January, Kenya added ninth grade to its junior high program. Students in rural areas often don’t make the transition from junior high to high school, so this move enables tens of thousands of students to attend school for another year. Joseph is a perfect example of this: He’s a middle child with several older siblings, yet he’s the first in his family to attend ninth grade. And as we all know, an additional year of school has a large impact on the life of a child.
We are thrilled for you to meet Joseph and his mother as they share a bit about their lives on the floor of the Great Rift Valley.
While adding several thousand students to the KKC program has helped us reach a new milestone — 25,000 students eating lunch every school day — it has also added to the funding we need to operate.
A special thank you to those who have already helped us this year with the increased need. With your help, the projected shortfall between our donations and expenses for 2025 has been reduced to $30,000, or 7% of our annual budget.
Please consider helping us feed and teach our new ninth graders or sharing our need with a friend. Each $25 gift provides a student with hot lunches and computer classes — not for a month, but for the entire year.
Join us in this valuable work of helping rural Kenyan students reach higher, fueled by school lunches and computer training.
Working together to support our students,
Mark
